Who Works Here

Four people, one bench

Small enough that you will know whose hands built your clubs. Ask for someone specific when you book and we will put you with them.

Founder & lead fitter

Dana Whitlock

Dana built clubs for a regional golf retailer for eleven years before opening this studio in 2015. She is the person to see if your swing has changed and your clubs have not — injuries, age, a rebuilt shoulder, a two-year layoff. She fits more golfers over sixty than anyone else on the bench and is unusually patient about explaining why a lighter club can be the controlled one.

Outside the shop she plays a scratchy fourteen handicap at Charleston Municipal and is genuinely fine with that.

Fitter & junior program

Marcus Oyelaran

Marcus came out of college golf at a small program in Georgia and spent four seasons as an assistant pro before deciding he liked the fitting side better than the lesson tee. He handles most of the junior sizing here, including the twice-yearly growth checks that keep a kid from swinging last year's clubs through a six-inch growth spurt.

He is also the one who will talk you out of a driver purchase if the numbers say your fairway wood is the club that needs attention.

Build bench

Pilar Tomczak

Pilar runs the build room: tipping, boring, epoxy, swing weight, grip installation, and the frequency work that decides whether a set actually flows the way the spec sheet says it should. She spent six years assembling clubs for a component house in North Carolina and can hold length tolerance tighter than most people can measure it.

If your set comes back with a note in the box explaining a small deviation and why she made it, that is Pilar.

Front desk & putter work

Gwen Hallowell

Gwen answers the phone, keeps the calendar honest, and runs most of the putter sessions. She came to the studio after a decade managing a pro shop on Johns Island and has a good eye for the setup habits that make a putter fitting worthwhile before any component changes hands.

She is also the reason the coffee is drinkable.

Booking with a specific fitter

Put the name in the notes field when you request a session and we will match the calendar to it. Requests for a particular fitter sometimes push the appointment out an extra week during busy months.

Training and certification

Everyone on the bench carries current component-house build certification and re-tests on the frequency and swing-weight procedures annually. That is a floor rather than a credential worth bragging about — what actually matters is bench hours, and among the four of us there are somewhere north of thirty years of them.
